How We Use Your Data
- To provide and operate the BedrockBudget budgeting and financial tracking service
- To process subscription payments securely
- To send important account notifications and financial alerts you configure
- To generate your personalized financial reports and dashboards
What We Do NOT Do
- We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal or financial data with third parties
- We do not use your financial data for advertising or marketing purposes
- We do not analyze your spending for any purpose other than providing you the service
- We do not share aggregated or anonymized financial data with anyone
Data Storage
Your financial data is stored in secure, encrypted databases with industry-standard protections. All data transmission uses TLS encryption. Session management uses HTTP-only, secure, SameSite-protected tokens. See our Security & Data Protection section for details on our zero-knowledge encryption option.
Third-Party Services
We use a limited number of trusted third-party services to operate BedrockBudget:
- Authentication provider: Secure sign-in and identity verification
- Payment processor: PCI-DSS compliant payment handling (we never see your card details)
- Cloud infrastructure: Enterprise-grade hosting with encryption at rest and in transit
Each service is bound by strict data processing agreements. They only handle the minimum data needed to provide their specific function.
Your Rights
- Export: Download all your data at any time via CSV export in the app
- Delete: Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings
- Encrypt: Enable user-controlled encryption so that only you can access your financial data
- Correct: Update or correct your personal information at any time through Settings
- Contact: Request details about your data by emailing support@bedrockbudget.com
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all financial data is permanently and irreversibly removed from our systems within 30 days. Backup copies are purged on the same schedule.
Security & Data Protection
Our Security Commitment
Your financial data is some of the most sensitive information you have. We treat it with the highest level of care. BedrockBudget is designed from the ground up so that no one — not even our team — can access your financial data when you enable user-controlled encryption.
Zero-Knowledge Encryption
BedrockBudget offers optional zero-knowledge encryption that you can enable in your Settings. Here's how it works:
- You set a personal encryption passphrase that only you know
- Your financial data is encrypted using a key mathematically derived from your passphrase
- The encryption key itself is never stored on our servers
- Without your passphrase, your data is completely unreadable — even to us
- We use industry-standard cryptographic algorithms (AES-256 level) for encryption
What This Means for You
BedrockBudget staff cannot see your budgets, expenses, income, or any financial details
Even if our database were compromised, your data would be unreadable without your passphrase
The company owner, support team, and engineers have no ability to view your financial data
Important Notes on Encryption
- Your passphrase is your key. If you forget it, we cannot recover your data. We recommend storing it in a password manager.
- Telegram/notification alerts: If you enable encryption, automated alerts will show general reminders only (e.g., "Time to check your budget!") rather than specific financial figures, since the server cannot read encrypted data.
- Encryption is optional. If you prefer convenience over maximum privacy, you can use BedrockBudget without it — your data is still protected by industry-standard database encryption and access controls.
Infrastructure Security
- Encryption in transit: All connections use TLS (HTTPS) — your data is encrypted every time it travels between your device and our servers
- Encryption at rest: All data stored in our database is encrypted at the infrastructure level, even before your personal encryption layer
- Secure authentication: We use OAuth 2.0 industry-standard authentication. Passwords are never stored in plain text.
- Session security: Sessions use HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite-protected cookies to prevent common web attacks
- Rate limiting: All sensitive endpoints are protected against brute-force attacks
- Input validation: All user input is validated and sanitized to prevent injection attacks
Responsible Disclosure
If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to security@bedrockbudget.com. We take all reports seriously and will respond promptly.
